Congrats on your PR!

Would appreciate if you could please share your experience and what prospective applicants should do before arrival and what they should look forward to/prepare themselves in terms of settling down, applying for jobs etc.

Thanks in advance.

It takes around 1.5 - 2 months to get the PR card... IT jobs are plenty.. all depends on your skills and what time of the year you are landing

After landing, when we can expect to have PR card? And what are the chances of getting IT jobs? Thanks

Thanks for helping out the prospective immigrants.

So what is the best time to land in Canada and in which province so that grabbing a job in IT becomes easier? Do the employers there recruit the new PRs with foreign experience or demand local experience? How is the market for ETL/DWH/Data Visualization technologies?

There are bridging programs funded by the Government of Canada to help you gain Canadian experience and some desired skills to help you get the IT job you want in Canada. But in general IT jobs are available ( I talk about Toronto) but the pay may vary depending on your experience (some IT jobs may not pay as much). When it comes to your professional career in is very important to do your homework before you come to Canada. And I mean there are procedures you need to do in your home country in order to begin the process of having your credentials recognized in Canada, and continue your career instead of starting from zero.

Get pre-arrival help! This is a list of free services to prepare you before you arrive to Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/before-services.asp

Look for ACCESS EMPLOYMENT in this list. They have a pre-arrival Program for IT international trained professionals. http://www.accesemployment.ca/index.php/job-seekers

I work for YMCA of Greater Toronto Online Pre-arrival service,http://nextstopcanada.ca/ and I connect people like you to the right resource to make sure that you do not spent 2 years struggling to find IT meaningful employment, while you work a survival job to be able to pay your bills. The whole point of moving to Canada is to have a better life. :)

Hi,

In Canada, can I drive car if I have Foreign driving licence?
You can drive; but check out this link to find out for how long as it may be different for other provinces and territories. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/after-transportation-driving.asp#Licences
