It’s very easy, the first step is to have your fingerprints taken , everyone does it differently, some people use agencies to have those, I personally went to the closest police department and they took them for me (I called them before coming and also had fingerprints card printed out , you can find it online , it’s form FD-258), costed me like 10$ I think (it was the police office fee for taking my fingerprints). Then you will have to file application online on the FBI site https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks and pay the fee (~18$) and send them your fingerprints by mail. From the moment they received my fingerprints till the moment my FBI report was ready it literally took one day. They sent me an electronic copy of it and later the paper one.

You follow the same process as any other applicant to get an FBI cert. Typically takes a couple of months to obtain.

I am residing in the USA, don't have a scheduled interview yet, looking at express entry (EE) as a good possibility to stabilize myself.
@wangasl has already asked about the expired passport. The respond was direct: 'You must have a valid passport, so renew it.' I have the same scenario and want to make sure: neither driver's license nor employment authorization card (EAD) issued in the USA does not replace the passport from the country of citizenship? One of the EE profile forms has an ID field and asks the country of issuance. So it only refers to the ID issued in the country of citizenship then?
This question is simply for clarification. A link to the rule that specifies the requirement would be helpful.
Another question I have regarding the lawyer/consultant. I definitely want to do EE with the professional. Could you briefly outline the essential criteria the representative should have in this instance? Or maybe just modify mine:
- Experience with the EE applicants (required);
- Be Canadian (required?);
- Experience with the EE applicants from the same country of citizenship (good to have);
- Experience with the previous/current asylum seekers in the USA (good to have?).
Also, if you already went through the EE procedures with the lawyer, maybe you can recommend one in private message?

A valid passport is mandatory. The COPR (PR visa) that allows you to land in Canada and become a PR can only be issued on a valid passport.
If you want assistance with the application, hire an immigration lawyer (not a consultant). Make sure they are a Canadian immigration lawyer so you will want someone who is located in Canada. Yes - they must be very familiar with Express Entry. They don't need to have experience with asylum seekers in the US. Expect to pay $3-5K for services.
1. A valid passport is a must , there is no other way around, your US driver license/EAD has no value when it comes to Canadian PR. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...anada/express-entry/application-approved.html < This source of information is the best in terms of basic understanding of process and requirements.
2. Regarding a use of consultant help: yes, experience with EE is a must, not necessary Canadian, but must be (preferably) registered as certified consultant (not sure about citizenship requirements for that) https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...zenship-representative/choose/authorized.html . Experience with asylum seekers in US isn’t required , but of course it’s good to have, I doubt if you’ll find many of those. The one I’ve used costed me around ~ 2K if I’m not mistaken .
@mishka2018 and @Garry1992 I'm just new hear at this thread and I have pending asylum case I supposed to have this august my master hearing but again rescheduled again to June of 2020..please guys help me walk me through on how to apply PR through EE and do you have to really have the 450 points in order to qualified to be alt least granted PR.. I really appreciate guys the help and info you give us who have questions regarding going to Canada..

Hi there
I know how frustrating it gets when you wanna get something so important done from the Indian Consulate and they deny you. It happened to me for my Indian PCC.
My friend was in the same situation like you, he went back to India by getting a Document from the consulate, which allowed him to go back to India, then he applied from India, Now he is in Canada. If you have a good CRS score and you are sure you will get the ITA, you can go to Canada in a few months of you returning to India.
Alternatively, If you have good connections in India, you can try to get your passport renewed, I know there used to be a lot of people near Passport offices ( Dalal ) who can get the passport renewed without even the person being there.
I don't know of any other alternatives but I am no expert on this matter, best of luck for your new Journey.
Thank you for the response, passport renewal has changed big time in India now, everything is computerised. i know there used to be dalal outside passport office in the past. Now they are very careful when renewing or issuing passports, they scrutinize very thoroughly and the passport holder has to be present.
At present we do not have a good CRS score but we wanted to try Atlantic Pilot Program. I will keep you updated as we plan our next step.

Good day house.I'm new to this forum.I and my family are asylees in the Usa.we have already received ITA and also submitted our documents. Just received a message from CIC requesting us to fill Schedule A (where you have lived for over 6 months in the past 10 years).please does anyone know what status can i use as an asylee.secondly can i use gift deed to augment my proof of funds at this point.
Beside the answer of YES in statutory question about asylum and some comment regarding my case pending since 2012,
I didn't provide anything.
