Correction
If the medical is done in Aug 15 the visa should have a validity of Jul 16 NOT 15
Lets assume the validity is Jul 2016 so you can land anytime b4 the expiry. I recommend keeping a margin of a week or two between visa expiry and landing to avoid circumstances like flight delays or other similar situations.

Dear All,

Please help Rajani he is bit confused..........

Regards,

Hi all,

I have applied in December 2014 and got visa at the end of August 2015. I have done medicals in the beginning of July therefore, our visa expiry is of July 2015.

I planned to perform landing in May 2016. But couple of my acquaintance suggested not to delay landing as it will be a problem on arrival. I am still unable to understand that if there is expiry on visa and if we do landing anytime before expiry, then there wouldn't be a problem.

Please suggest if some came across to perform landing after 10 months to visa issuance but before expiry?

Dear Salman,

Thanks for your kind response about the house rents in Toronto suburbs.

Do you have any idea about the cost of buying a small (three room) house in Toronto suburbs?

Thanks

You are a guy with a large heart. Thanks so much for this information and personal experience. God bless U.
Please do you have an idea of a family that landed but the man decided to go back to home country to continue work, while he sponsors his family in CA.
I know of two families like that as the Man is earning well in his home country and finds it difficult to resign. What is your take on this?

Please specify which kind of house
Townhouse
Detached
Semi detached
Or Condominium
The prices are so different. In Markham detached house might cost 550000 CAD but in Milton it is 450000. There are so much variables. I am doing my study on mortgage and residential and will post details soon.

Salman

Well its a tough decision everyone has to make. Actually Canadian immigration system is designed to intake only those FSW who are already well settled in their home countries. I have explained the reasons in detail that why I opted for immigration in my previous posts.
Now if someone landed here and went back to continue old life its his/her choice. Never expect from Canada that you will get the same position in the same field as a manager and a lot of ppl working under your command. They only inject at entry level even if u have all the experience and certifications. So for everyone the first few years will be struggling (Exclude those with genuine arranged employment offers). So if u will not make a decision now than u are losing time. U r getting older and its easier to face the challenges being younger.
So if someone is really serious in settling here than first step is leave the old life back home and land once and for all, otherwise its just a waste of time and efforts.

Salman,

I understand your point.

I believe the essence of immigration to CA is for better life n prospects especially for the kids. If a father feels that he can send his family to CA to experience all these and he remains in home country to sponsor the bills then it is still okay. What are the other likely compelling factors in your view should make the man resign his employment and come to CA to take an entry level job. Compelling reasons please.

Your thoughts are appreciated!

That depends on what kind of sacrifice one is ready to make.
I could have done the same but For me living away from wife and kids is a bigger sacrifice than working at entry level jobs. It's a lonely life here and without my family I would be eating anti depression drugs thrice a day.

:D

In analogy its like, when you come out fresh from your university and look out for job. Your first 2 to 5 years are tough and it takes time to get established. Similarly, is the case with Canada.

You should consider yourself fresh out of university, trying to enter into Canadian system. Make a time period of 2 - 3 years for that.

Before moving in, make sure you have all the required paperwork from your home country in order to get in any regulated field, if that is the case. For example, my wife is RN of anesthesia & her registration from NNAS and then CNO takes almost 1 year so I wont be moving any time before that.

My observation is, Canada is a wonderful country for families in lower middle class i.e earning less than $ 36,000. You get almost maximum tax breaks & child/family benefits if you are in that bracket.

If you live outside canada & support family, then you have maximum 3 years from the date of first entry to settle in Canada or max 5 years subject to if you are not reported at arrival.

Why risk a bank statement? If you have the money, its better to make a demand draft in your name and/or take cash. Accepting a bank statement is up to the immigration officer you meet on landing.

Bank draft would require one to buy CAD and then encash it at a certain rate however banks selling and buying rate is different and difference could be as high as 5-6%.

I spoke with CIC on this and they were not sure on this but said bank statement in INR should be fine.

Read the above link.

Also my recommendations about currency exchange.

BANKING
Look for different packages offered by banks. TD bank is the largest here and they have more branches than any other bank in Canada. They offer “all inclusive banking plan” for CAD accounts. It includes unlimited free transactions and free lockers facility. Also open a borderless account of USD because Canadian dollar is declining. My advice to newcomers. In order to avoid double exchange rate and declining value of Canadian dollar anticipate that how much Canadian money you need to settle down. Either you plan to go for certification first or start an odd job to save the settlement funds. Anyway right away you will need about Canadian $13,000~14,000 to buy a car and startup expenditure. Get this in CAD and the remaining settlement funds in USD. To give an idea of Open market and interbank rates of USD and CAD here is a calculation based on today’s rate.
1 USD = 1.316 CAD (xe.com)
TD banks is offering
1USD = 1.286 CAD
So that means if you exchange 1000 USD you will get 1286 CAD instead of 1316. This $30 difference is a huge amount for a new immigrant.
Another Calculation is
Value of USD in April was 1.240 CAD and now it is 1.316. I did a wise decision of not exchanging all the money and you can see that there is a devaluation of CA $76 per each of the US $1000. One of my friend exchanged 20,000 USD into CAD and suffered a loss of 1520CAD in just 6 months. I hope you got my point.

ALERT
Do not convert your savings to Canadian Dollars. Only convert whatever you need for immediate use. CAD has lost 5 cents in past 30 days to USD. Reason is declining oil prices which are still going down as US stockpiles of raw oil are full of capacity.
