We will be in Canada on June 2015. Assuming that I can file for CCTB for my kids on July 2015, when will be the first payment of my CCTB allowance? Any idea?

According to the CRA, you can not receive a CCTB payment until you are eligible. One of the criteria for eligibility is:

"you or your spouse or common-law partner must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a protected person, or a temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the previous 18 months, and who has a valid permit in the 19th month."

So, assuming that you receive your payment after 19 months, the CRA will credit you for the back payments that you had missed.

That is incorrect my friend. He can apply as soon as he receives his PR card. The 19 months mentione above is only for temporary residents. Being that said, payments come in 3 or 4 months after you apply, and you will receive the total amount from the month you landed.

You can definitely apply as soon as you want, but that doesn't mean that you will start receiving payments immediately. How in the world will CRA know how much to pay you if you haven't filed any taxes or received any assessment?

the excerpt I quoted was straight from the CRA site, with no qualifications for temporary residents vs. PR vs. citizens:

Do you happen to read the RC66SCH, Status in Canada/Statement of Income,? This is the form that you will attach as a supporting docs for CCTB application if you became a new resident or returned as a resident of Canada in the last 2 years; or are, as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, a permanent resident, protected person (refugee), or temporary
resident who has lived in Canada for the previous 18 months. Please interpret the Part C – Immigration status section. From what I understand, the 18 months you were saying only applies to Temporary Residents.

Hi siouxe,

You are right, the 18 months applies only to Temporary Residents. I am a landed immigrant and have been here for the past 5 years and also a beneficiary of CCTB.....(I think I know what I am saying). I am here in this forum now for my sister. Cheers... :) :)

Did you attached the RC66SCH, Status in Canada/Statement of Income in your application? How many months after you apply did you receive your first cctb payment? Thanks

I don't exactly remember about the RC66SCH now, but I guess I did. I applied ending of Sep,2010 and received my payment end of Jan, 2011.
