We will be in Canada on June 2015. Assuming that I can file for CCTB for my kids on July 2015, when will be the first payment of my CCTB allowance? Any idea?

It depends when CRA will pay out the initial payment (usually 3-4 months), but regardless of when you receive the payment, CRA will pay the full amount in arrears (that is, your child would have been assumed eligible from the day your family landed).

Also, along with your CCTB application, send the form CTB9 (Statement of Income), along with a clear copy of your landing papers, SIN cards / SIN number letter (sometimes CRA will claim that the SIN is invalid, so include the SIN document copy), passports and / or ID documents. GST / HST credit payments are made quarterly, whilst CCTB payments monthly.

Also remember to fill out Form RC151 (GST/HST Credit Application for Newcomer). Available from CRA website / google search.

Note all this on a bullet point notepad if you may.

This will ensure the minimum amount of processing time; as usually people forget to include statement of income and then the CRA sends a letter asking for it to and fro.

Thank you for your very detailed and informative reply. Why is it that there were many landed immigrants got a letter stating that they don't meet the residency requirements?

I don't know any of the cases, but with regards to people on this forum, there are different rules that apply to inland applications maybe. I wouldn't know. But technically, all landed immigrants are eligible for the CCTB as long as they are residents of Canada.

Also, I don't think form CTB9 is needed, want to correct my earlier post*, CRA will send you a letter which have the form fields asking for previous year incomes.

I spoke to my tax returns woman, apparently if you are TFW and send in the application before 19 months it will be rejected as no one wants to deal with it.
I'm having my tax woman check my form tomorrow and send it in for me,will be nice to get that backdated money!
