Letter of Explanation
Dear Sir/Madam,
In the first attempt, my study permit was refused. Application number: XXXx, UCI: XXX, Biometrics Number: XXX. I am applying a study permit for the second time. I have an unconditional acceptance letter from Carleton University (DLI #) in Master of Engineering: Technology Innovation Management.
My application was refused for the following grounds:
“Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of your qualifications, previous studies, missing marksheets, academic record, level of establishment, language abilities, or your future prospects and plans.”
I am clarifying the above concern to demonstrate that I meet all the requirements for the Canadian study permit. And, kindly requesting to reconsider my application and grant me the study permit.
I have classified my long-term goal, acceptance letter from Carleton University, meet English requirement by graduating from US university, paid tuition Fee CAD 4000, bank balance of CAD 123 CAD and, Property valuation worth of CAD 4568.51.
1. Proposed studies, qualification, and previous study
In childhood, I had a passion for mathematics, physics, and aviation which led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering. After graduation, I had the opportunity to work on a project of “BNSF Railway” as System Engineer. I was responsible for the maintenance of systems by eliminating waste in the processes of scheduling, testing and optimizing the systems. Later, I graduated as an honored student in M.S in Industrial Engineering to couple with my practice as a System engineer. This degree has provided me with a set of skills and knowledge of the system engineering, lean manufacturing, supply chain and, quality engineering. During the master degree, I also work at Pfizer Inc as a Maintenance Engineering Intern which focused on the reliability of the system and manufacturing process.
On November 2018, I returned to Nepal and joined JK Enterprises as an Assistant Engineering Manager. My experience helps me to recognize and manage the problems in the manufacturing process. Manufacturing industries in Nepal are lack of standardization practice, technology, and innovation management. This result in high manufacturing cost, low quality, and low skilled workforce. There is a necessity for the standard process, balanced leader and management. As a consequence, education in technology management is required to move forward and balance with constantly changing technology over time. Master of Engineering in Technology Innovation Management (TIM) combine the engineering and management knowledge and trains the individual on creating the wealth of the company and prepare for the senior level position. Thus, due to excellent faculty members, courses, resources and research areas in the Technology Innovation Management program at Carleton University has deepened my interest to enroll on a scholarly level.
I wish to carry outmy projectunder the supervision of my advisor (Dr. Mika Westerlund). He has excellent research on technology entrepreneurship such as “An Overview of Four Issues on Technology Entrepreneurship in the TIM Review”, which is closely aligned with my professional background. This is a unique multidisciplinary program with a various course, such as Customer Value Creation in Technology Firms and Technology Entrepreneurship which provide expertise in engineering and business disciplines. Through this program, I will explore the technology in innovative ways, enhance the understanding of technology, advance the managerial and leadership skills to meet my overwhelming goal. Therefore, this program partnered with my engineering degree and work experience.
2. Missing Marksheets
It was delayed in receiving my official Transcript from the US so I could not submit in the first time. Now, I have attached my all transcripts and diploma with this letter.
3. Academic Record
I completed my undergraduate in May 2014. During undergraduate, I had been through lots of stress because I was ill with severe headache, my grandmother health condition was critical and later unfortunate death of my grandmother. Hence, I had to drop the semester multiple time to visit my family, the performance was average and took longer time to complete my undergraduate degree. At the same time, I was also working as a student assistant position at “Wichita State University” from August 2012 to August 2014. On August 2014, I voluntarily joined the “Cambay Consulting” and I was placed on full time paid position at BNSF Railway as system engineering till May 2016. July 2018, I applied for a Master Degree in Industrial Engineering at Wichita State University. I was placed on the full-time internship at Pfizer Inc and submitted the report on October 2018 and meet all graduation requirements. I departed from the US in November 2018 to join JK Enterprises as Assistant Engineering Manager. On December 2018, I was awarded as an honored student with CGPA 3.56/4.0.
4. Level of Establishment
I came to Nepal with US work experience and degree to work as assistant engineering manager at JK Enterprises. After completing a degree in Technology Innovation Management program, I will be promoted as an engineering manager. I also own and rent the business building and land which is currently managed by my mother. It gives a yearly income of NRs 1,00,000. My father is a businessman and owner of the JK enterprises. He has a yearly income of NRs 10000.20. My mother owns and manages the property and her yearly income is NRs 100,000 from house rental. My wife is a business accountant at “Regmi Nirman Order & Suppliers” with a yearly income of NRs 110,000. Our family total yearly income is NRs 10000 (CAD 100002) excluding my salary. The present market value of our total land and building is CAD 100001 including my property worth of CAD 10000. We have the total saving of CAD 10000 including my father bank balance CAD 10000 and my bank balance of CAD 10000 respectively. This fund in saving account is sufficient for my education, health and accommodation during my two years in Canada.
5. Language Abilities
According to Carleton University ( https://graduate.carleton.ca/international/english-second-language/), I meet the English language requirement and I do not require the extra Language Proficiency (IELTS) because I have completed my degree from the United States where instruction primary language is English.
6. Future Prospect and Plans
I had the opportunity to work as a Reliability Engineer at Pfizer, a world leading pharmaceutical industries. However, I left the US with work experience and the degree to work in my hometown as Assistant Engineering Manager. Similarly, after completing my degree in Canada, I want to return to Nepal because of long term and permanent job and family. I already spend a few years of my life away from family. My wife, parents, and brother have been a part of my life so, I would like to live and enjoy the rest of my life together with them working in Nepal. In addition, I have secured a long-term position as Engineering Manager at JK Enterprises who is aiming to expand their firm in the National level manufacturing industry and establish the first lean manufacturing enterprises with the collaboration of my father (Businessman) and younger brother (Engineer and Entrepreneur). We have the objective to provide high level technical training to the employees. I also want to implement technology management in the organization. This will generate skilled employment, contribute to the economic growth of the country, create new lines of business and improve the health of ecosystems that support technology entrepreneurship. I am seeking for Technology Innovative Management skills which cannot begin through self-study. Thus, my future goal is Nepal is dependent on getting a special Program (Technology Innovation Management) at Carleton University from Canada. In order to fulfill this dream, I must have to complete my degree and return to Nepal.
