When they say VV is valid for 6 months, it means you have to enter Canada within six months. Once you are at the airport, the immigration officer would determine the length of the stay (normally this does not extend beyond 6 months). However, you can apply online to get this period extended by another 6 months. But for that you need to apply at least one month before your visa is over.

That helps?

How? It says in the website the VV is valid for 6months only. Pls help. Thank you

It depends on the visa really. My wife's intial single entry visa was I think valid for 6 month. But when she re-applied a second time, this time for multiple entry visa, her visa was good for 5 years. So it really depends on what kind of visa you have. It is advisable that if you are applying for Canada visa for first time, apply for single entry. When you go back to home country, you can re-apply for multi-entry visa and likely to get it since you had a single entry visa issued and you followed the entry rules. They trust you more the second time around.

Is this for yourself?

Your previous post says you are applying for inland PR very soon. If you submit an OWP app along with the inland PR app before your current status expires, you won't need to apply for a visitor visa. You will be on Implied Status and then receive an OWP after sponsor approval.
