Can we submit passport for stamping in different country VAC?

I recently received a letter requesting the submission of my passport for Canada visit visa stamping. However, due to an unforeseen emergency, I had to travel to India and am currently unable to submit my passport in the USA as originally planned.

Any idea if I can submit my passport to the nearest Visa Application Centre (VAC) in India instead of the USA ?

If this is not feasible, for how long we can request an extension so that I can return to the USA and submit my passport there.

Yes, you can submit it in India (or anywhere in world with a VAC). You need to be there enough time for them to process and get it back (2-4 weeks in most places, don't know specifically about India.
