Can I re-enter Canada from USA by showing my COPR if I am driving rental car and not my own car?

The below link talks about own car and not about the rental car. I also called CIC call center and they were not 100% sure and just said I probably should not have a problem if I am driving into Canada from the US by a rental car.

Seniors, please help.

Do you have the link?

Oh. Yes a rental car is another example of a private vehicle.

Yes, rental companies allow cars to be driven into USA :)

I was just unsure if CBSA will allow me to reenter Canada using a rental car...

If you're driving into Canada then I really doubt Border Services cares whether the car belongs to you. But yes, check with them if there is any doubt.

Yes call them first. But I don't see any problem here.

The link you give refers to those who already landed but haven't got their PR card yet. Since you have your PR visa, there should be no problem.

hi Yahoo7

During landing the officer told me that you can cross US borders with COPR via land as many times you want.

She told that we can't travel via air...

Great, thanks...

I drove to US and back more than 50 times so far on closed work permit with rental car ( Budget and enterprise ) , i had no problem and only few times they asked for rental aggrement while entering into US.

Hoe that helps.

I agree, a rental car is considered a 'private' vehicle. As it is no commercial transportation like ferry or planes.
You're free to re-enter as many times as you please, if the rental company allows you to cross the line to the US.

Thanks all..

As per the info I have, you can travel on Rental Car to US for landing/visiting

1.make sure that with the rental company(some times Budget/enterprise wont allow you to cross the border, AVIS is best if you travel States)

2. make sure you are in the Driving Seat when you are crossing the border, if the rental is on your name.

3. Never borrow friends car, if he is not coming with you. (Once I was in big trouble at Detroit Border when i borrowed my friends car)

Good Luck with your Landing :)
