Hello all,
I have recently received an offer from a UK-based company to work for them remotely. I would like to know if this is something that can be done while on PGWP. Also will this work be considered as self-employment?

Any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks

Yes - you can do that.

This will be classified as foreign self employment work experience. So it will count towards Express Entry but not towards CEC.

Hi @scylla , Thanks for your prompt reply. I am not worried regarding the PR application as I have already done that with my previous employment. I just wanted to know whether remote work for a company outside Canada is possible on PGWP and what sort of taxes do I have to deal with? Do you have any idea regarding that? TIA

When you file taxes in Canada you have to report your worldwide income. So you will report the UK income in your Canadian tax return as foreign income and you will be taxed on it.

How much you are going to be taxed depends on many different factors such as your province, your income, and more.

Search for an income tax calculator online if you want to get an estimate of how much you might pay.
