Can we apply for OCI while at India?

My son is Canadian citizen. He is on e-visa at India. Can he apply for OCI at India instead of leaving india , come back to canada and then apply for oci?

Thanks for the information.
After attaining citizenship, if I go on Tourist Visa to India, Can I stay for more than 180 in one visit? For OCI registration, I see that below are limitations

1. The period of continuous stay during each visit will not exceed 180 days.
2. Registration with concerned FRRO/FRO will be required for continuous stay exceeding 180 days.

I see that if I stay for more than 180 days only, I'll be considered as resident and will be eligible to apply for OCI from India. Have you got any exemption from FRRO in this process. Is it a complicated process?

I think you can apply for e-visa.
