I am moving to Canada from USA. I have to show $16000 CAD as proof of funds. I will be having the funds in USD in my US bank account. Will the statements from the US bank account suffice at the port of entry or should I convert this into some negotiable instrument (cash, traveler's check etc..)? Since I have a Visa Debit card, I will be having access to these funds through ATMs in Canada.

Show them an ATM receipt (with your name) dated the day you plan to land. That should work.

I would show the bank statement ATM receipts usually don't have much written on them.

I showed bank statements (printed the online statements available as pdf) along with letter of proof issued by the bank stating the name and balance amount as on date. Also took a print out of the transaction history (since the bank statement is issued on a specific day of the month and we might be travelling a few days after that). Hope this helps.
