I am recently accepted by a certificate program at York U, which requires 57 credits to graduate.

Since, 1 course=3 credits, which means I have to take 19 courses totally. At York U, the full courses load for fall\winter is 10 courses, this program will need around 4 semesters to finish.

I wonder when I graduate from this program, can I receive a three year working permit?

For immigration, can I use this certificate for CEC, I checked the CIC website, it says,

"Applicants must complete a program of study and earn:

a diploma, degree, trade or apprenticeship credential from a public post-secondary educational institution such as a college or a university that is provincially recognized,"

I could not find certificate on it, does certificate qualify as well?

Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

It is a professional certificate program in Accounting. I heard that not all the certificate program can be used to apply for PGWP, for example, some training certificate, is that true? Could this certificate be used to apply for PGWP?

Many thanks.

It has to be through a post-secondary institution (college or university), not a professional association.

Thanks for your reply! :)

This professional certificate is obtained from York University. So this certificate should be qualified for the CEC education requirement?

If the course is only a two years program at a post secondary recognized by CIC. You should only be getting a 2 years PGWP I think.
Only if the program is three years or more, you are eligible for getting a 3 years PGWP

Thanks for your patient!

Yeah, what you mentioned is exactly the same with the relative officer in my university told me.

But I still wonder, if this certificate would be qualified for the Canadian Experience Class requirement? :(

Thanks.

It's not clear what you're worried about.

See the OP 25, P. 6:
www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op25-eng.pdf

Post-Graduation Stream
Under this stream the applicant must have:
- completed a required program of study in Canada and obtained a Canadian
educational credential (e.g., degree, diploma, or certificate);

As for the PWGP, the previous poster is not correct -
If you complete 2 full years of study (and earn the credential), you will be eligible for a 3-yr PGWP.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad-who.asp

A certificate is only a problem if it's less than 2 years, and you're trying to combine two or more programs ...
