Can TOEFL be submitted instead of IELTS for a study permit to Canada?

I have a toefl 79 (R-16,S-21,L-20,W-22) and have an unconditional offer of admission for MSc CS.

DO I need to take IELTS in order to apply for study permit.
Or my TOEFL score is okay? and there wouldn't be any problem with this score?

I request anyone to kindly suggest on this.

As I know the proof of English proficiency is not required as a part for study permit application!

No I'm Not wrong at all. In my case and all my friends who applied in the same period no body asked me and them to submit scores for IELTS/TOEFL in order to get a study permit?! This is required only in the university admission application.

English proficiency test submission is not compulsory but it is a standard practice especially when applying from countries like india, pakistan, bangladesh etc and Visa officers do tend to need it to establish ur intention

Yeah they do, since I had my undergrad from an English university I got admitted on the basis of that.

Tofel is fine. Go for it. Show it at the time of visa application.

When are u planning to file ur visa application in embassy??

Did you apply yet? what format did you send your results in? did you ask TOEFL for another set of original result papers or did u just notarize a copy?
Did you also add to your visa application your old transcripts from the old school back home? also, these, in what format?

Again.

In India at least English proficiency result is a part of checklist, if the visa office is responsible(Mine was-Mumbai, India) they wont even accept your application since they check all docs against the checklist before they accept it.

Its a part of the checklist, what else do you need to know that its mandatory?

I'm talking about SPP category not sure about others.
