Hi All,

I've been admitted to a 2 year graduate program (MBA) at the University of Toronto. I am a citizen of India and am currently residing in India as well.

In order to apply for a Canadian student visa, I would like to know -

1. Would I need to submit IELTS scores ?

2. Can I submit TOEFL scores instead of IELTS in order to show proof of English language competency ?I have very high TOEFL scores (119/120 on the ibt), and would like to know whether this would be sufficient.

I look forward to feedback on the above. Thanks !

yes u can submit toefl score.

i got 105, and 3 of my friends got 117,119 and 119.

ur sure there's no problem ? I'm only concerned because the website only makes a mention of IELTS ?

Pls do let me know.. I'm just a bit worried..

my friends i sent toefl result. They got visa with no problem and i m waiting for mine.

ok. best of luck for ur case.

thanks mugen..

but i'll be applying only next year.. and i've not decided about canada.. i still want to apply to some US schools as well..

I only hope that not having an IELTS score, does not become the reason for rejecting the study permit..

trust me it wud not cause problem but for USA u wud need SAT

Well SAT is not compulsary in USA though. It's just for scholarship. I got 1550 only and 1120 in composite.

@MGINDIA....
I too sent my TOEFL scores and got accepted in one of the college

from wht i have heard, sat is compulsory for usa.

okay a couple of things..

I think we're confusing issues..

I've ALREADY been accpeted by the unversity. The issue is not whether a university (either US or Canadian) will admit me based on TOEFL/ IELTS scores..

The issue is whether TOEFL scores can be submitted in lieu of IELTS scores, in order to obtain a study permit. This pertains to the Canadian High Commission in India, and NOT the university.

@ Mugen - can u confirm that your friends only submitted TOEFL scores to the Canadian High commission in India, and not IELTS scores ?
In case it was only TOEFL scores, which they submitted to the Canadian High commission, did they additionally submit GMAT/ GRE/ SAT scores also ?

they submitted their toefl scores in canadian embassy pakistan. I m from pakistan, and there is not much difference between rules.
