Can this affect spousal sponsorship application?

Hi,

I applied for my pr card a few years after misplacing my card and in my address history I listed my fiancée address since I spent a lot of time there but it was not my primary residence.

My application was returned to me since my passport was expired at the time of submission. I did not apply again for my pr card until two years later. In my second application, I did not list my fiancée address but listed all my primary residences and my pr card application was approved.

Will this cause a problem when we apply for spousal sponsorship?

For continuity, you should use that same address for the sponsorship application. However...

You must notify IRCC that you made a mistake in the address history of your PR Card renewal because if you do not...and IRCC sees the discrepancy, you could be found to have misrepresented the facts of your prior application. Just include a short letter to explain.

Yes this could be problematic because IRCC could be concerned that you and your fiancée were common law at some point. I would include an explanation and proof that you were not living together at the time including your own lease, utility bills, etc. with your own address. This is less of an issue for the actual spousal sponsorship but more for continuity and your fiancée’s previous applications for temporary status. Never a bad idea to clarify in advance.

Thank you. For the particular year in question I do not have a copy of my lease. What should I include in the actual letter?
