HI,

I am juts wondering if a sponsor can travel out of canada during the process of sponsering.

As am sponsering my husband, if I have to travel out of canada (durin ghte sponsorship process), can I do so.

Or will there be a obligation? If I travel how long can I be out of the country - the duration???

If you've applied outland and are a Canadian citizen, you can travel as much as you want. As long as you maintain ties to Canada and it's obvious that you will be returning, there is no limit on duration.

If you're a PR, then you must stay in Canada during the application. Short absences are OK, and there is no official duration, but 2 to 3 weeks (stretching it) should be fine.

If you're applying Inland, then sponsor and applicant should stay in Canada for the duration of the process, but I'm less certain of the consequences for the sponsor - it's mostly for the applicant.

You can travel out of Canada. But you MUST be in Canada when the sponsored person needs to arrive in Canada. When i sponsored my wife (Outland application), i was out of Canada.

only true if you're a citizen. If you're a PR, you must be in canada for the duration of the application. and the sponsored person can land "on his/her own" if needed.

a month is probably too long, most people here would advise against it. try to reduce it to 2, maybe 3 weeks. If CIC decides that you don't actually reside in Canada during the process, the application will be refuse. As much as I understand that you want to be with your husband to wait out the process, as it's hard to be away, I don't recommend it.
Good luck,
