Hell Guys,
Can international students with valid study permit and TRV who for some reasons do not want to work under a student related work permit programme such as:
1.the off-campus work permit programme
2.the on-campus work permit programme
3.the internship/ co-op programme,
apply for a work permit during or after their studies under the Temporary Foreign Worker Programme inside Canada?
A friend of mine just told me it's possible and he has read it somewhere on the CIC website but couldn't give me the link.
So I humbly want to know if it's really true and if someone has any clue about this .
your response would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

It may possible if you get a full time job offer & with this you can apply for full time work permit. Otherwise i don't think its possible to work full time while studying.

You would be changing your status from student to worker. You would need the employer to apply for a labour market opinion for you. If he gets it, you can apply for your work permit. Getting the LMO can take a couple of months but depends on the province. You can ask at Service Canada what the average processing times are where you live. After you get the LMO, getting the work permit takes about 6 weeks, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp

Thank you Leon for the information.
But do anyone have any clue about the exact difference between TFW and AEO . What are advantages and disadvantages associated with them, and in my case as I would like to change status from student to worker, which will be the best to use if I have access to the opportunities?

TFW = Temporary foreign worker

To become one, your employer needs the LMO and then you need the work permit. Then you can work

AEO = Arranged Employment Opinion

To get one, your prospective employer has to apply for it but you can only use it to apply for your immigration through FSW (skilled worker program) or maybe through PNP (Provincial nominee program). You can not use the AEO to get a work permit so you can not start working right away. In the case of FSW, you would have to wait for your PR to work and in the case of PNP, once you get the PNP nomination, you would be able to apply for a work permit without needing an LMO.

Thanks Leon, you've really made things more clear for me now. it means after the TFW and you still want stay permanently then you can resort to the AEO or the PNP.

Once again thank you Leon.

Best regards.

On a work permit, there are a few ways to stay, as long as your job is a skilled one. You can ask the employer to sponsor you under PNP or you can apply under FSW with arranged employment (your LMO and work permit would act as an AEO) or if you work for two years, you can apply under Canadian experience class.
