Can Spouse still work with SOWP when main applicant with Closed WP (ICT) doesn't work?

Can spouse find and start working with SOWP when main applicant with closed WP (ICT) hasn't started work or has quit the company but still resides in Canada?

So.. am I right in paraphrasing that whether we exercise our WP or not has no impact on our temporary residence in Canada and the Closed WP and the Spouse Open WP are not related to each other except having the preset expiry date?

If your employer no longer wants you to go to Canada or you quit they can inform Canada before you enter and yes both visas and permits can be cancelled. If you come to Canada and you get laid off for example your spouse can continue working. Anticipate that you will will be applying for PR or other visas and permits. If you appear to manipulating the visa system without intentions to work, etc. your future applications may be subject to much more scrutiny.

Thank you so much for going this detailed in your explanation. This both answers the questions I'd asked here and helps me draw lines to clear other doubts I had in mind. No intention of manipulating the system. Just wanted to evaluate the risks and dependency to my employer I am getting into while traveling with a closed permit. Thanks again.
