Can someone without grade 12 prove his education as a mature student in Canada?

Hello to everyone

Someone has not finished High School education but has progressed in life by learning trades and his knowledge and education now is equivalent to University level in many aspects. Can that someone apply for a Job in Canada (talking about someone who is already a resident) where they require a minimum of grade 12 education?
I remember that back in the 80's employers would allow you to take a competency test and if you passed it then you had a job!
If there is such a program still and what is it named now!

It depends on the employer whether they want to hire a mature person without grade 12.

Many school boards accepts mature students for grade 12 class. If you think you can pass the grade 12 exams, why not enrol for the class.

i passed my 10 in 2004 and now appearing for 12 in 2013. can i get admit in any of Canadian collage.
between these time i helped my grandpaa in farming.
