Hello Everyone,

I have searched 12 pages deep and cant seem to find anything related to this topic. My husband who I am sponsoring recently did his medical exam and his GCKey account states he passed his medical exam. He received an e-mail today stating:

"The results of your immigration medical examination (IME) indicate that you are required to report to a provincial/territorial public health authority (P/T PHA), as you may have a medical condition considered to be one of public health significance in Canada requiring a medical follow-up referred to as surveillance.

The P/T PHA has the responsibility to conduct a medical follow-up according to established protocols. Therefore, you may receive a letter or a phone call from the P/T PHA regarding next steps to completing medical surveillance. The P/T PHA must inform Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that you have complied with medical surveillance for IRCC to update your file. If you have not heard anything from the P/T PHA after three months, please email the Public Health Liaison Unit at IRCC.MHBSurveillance-SurveillanceDGMS.IRCC@cic.gc.ca

For IRCC to notify the designated P/T PHA of your medical surveillance requirement, please kindly ensure that you have provided IRCC with your updated Canadian residential address. A copy of your IME will also be sent along with the notification. Please know that without a Canadian residential address, IRCC cannot inform the P/T PHA of your medical surveillance requirement. If you do not know your address upon arrival, or if you relocate to a different province prior to your appointment with public health, please email the Public Health Liaison Unit atIRCC.MHBSurveillance-SurveillanceDGMS.IRCC@cic.gc.ca

As a friendly reminder, failure to comply with all the conditions in this notice may be reportable under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and could have an adverse impact on your current and/or subsequent immigration applications to Canada.

Anyone else ever have this before and have any information, it would be truly helpful.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing the link. I have read through it already and it doesnt really answer much. I understand that it says the medical condition and time frame for when the individual lands in Canada, but my husband is already in Canada we are doing an inland sponsorship. Does this just mean that he will need to be under watch? Will this effect the sponsorship application? This is why im calling on those who have experience with this.

Thanks!

It's a medical condition that need to be reported to public health Canada (e.g. tuberculosis). From their message it sounds like they will be contacting you for further follow up, so for now there is nothing for you to do. As for whether it will result in refusal, generally no, if it is treatable.

I went through this process. My every report was normal but IRCC told me that I have a latent TB.When I landed in Toronto Airport there also I was asked to contact public health authority. We contacted public health authority. They did my skin test and an XRay.They found latent TB but I am informed that it is not at all harmful. No medication required.I may suffer from TB at an older age.But regarding my immigration status I don’t have any problem. After almost a month I received an email that I have cleared my medical surveillance. So do not worry.

Thank you.

Hi,
I received exactly the same email today for my express entry application. I am already in Canada on a work permit and have applied for permanent residence. What is the next step I can take after getting this email? Just want to know what did you do after getting this email?
Your answer will help me. Thanks

Same case here, does it mean we will not be approved yet of PR since we are inland applicants? For outland, the instruction was clear and by the time they will do the surveillance they had landed to Canada with PR.

What about us inlands? Do we need to wait for 3 months or finish the surveillance before getting approved PR?

I really dont know how to proceed here now. I have only 20 days to either continue and submit my application or decline the invitation to apply. What do you suggest? What should I do? I am very worried as there is no source of help

If you are worried then make a phone call to IRCC hotline, they can provide you with information. I do not understand the part of you that you only have 20 days to continue or submit application? Didnt you applied for PR yet?

One things for sure, there is nothing to worry about having tuberculosis especially if its inactive. We will not be subject for inadmissibility unless otherwise you did not follow the instructions.

The surveillance is for public protection, same case as you knowing you dont have it, and what you can do in the future. Having said you are TB inactive and currently in Canada, why worry?

In my case im worried and clueless whether id get my PR before or after surveillance.

As per my understanding the PR will be granted before the surveillance its just that they will remove the mark from our profile when they receive confirmation from health authority. Again this is as per my understanding, I dont know whats the exact answer.
As far as my case, I just filled my application online, got an ITA, did upfront medical test, and cic sent me email after 10 days of medical based on the UCI number of my work permit since they already have some of my information from my work permit application. I did not provide them the copy of medical yet(they got it from panel physician) I still have 20 days to submit or decline my invitation. Should I continue the application or decline till my surveillance is complete?

If you are serious of becoming a PR, i dont think the medical surveillance should stop you unless you have further medical issues to worry about.

Honestly, I dont see the surveillance as a negative thing. It is there to protect us and the public, it is more of compliance and clearance to finalize all the steps. Same as going through background checks
