I have just received a letter from the CIC to submit an update information on my application, my area of confusion is
1. that since I applied in 2003 will they use my current occupation to determine my work experience or my occupation at the time of submission.
2. I am presently a self employed book-keeper will the allow that as a full time work experience?
3. I am originally from Nigeria and presntly based in the UK, I have studied in English all my life up to a degree level, will I still be required to take the IELTS test?

I will appreciate if someone can please advise me ASAP

Omo Naija, E pele O. I dey happy for u. My greetings to all of una wey dey for diaspora o. A da a!!
If you believe that you can clearly demonstrate your level of proficiency through a written
submission, follow the instructions in the table below.
NOTE: That you will still have to do a written submission, even if you be OYIBO.

Steps:
Your written submission must demonstrate your
language proficiency in all four abilities: speaking,
listening, reading and writing.

Your written submission must clearly detail all
of the following:
o Your education and training in English
or French;
o Your work experience in English or
French; and
o Any other contexts in which you may
wish to provide details on your use of
English or French (such as the language
spoken in the home or institutions).

Gather documentation which supports the
claims made in your submission and submit
these documents with your immigration
application. Supporting documents should
include:

o Degrees, diplomas, certificates,

transcripts of all education completed in English
Documentation that supports your work

experience in English or French, such as
letters from employers, pay stubs,
samples of your work, etc.; and

o Any other evidence that proves that you
have spent considerable time speaking,
listening, reading and writing an English
or French speaking environment.

My broder my advise to you be say, if you know say you require more than 10 points for the Language, den maybe u want to take the IELTS.

Best wishes!!!!!

I think it is a wise decision. Remember, that you want to do the GENERAL IELTS ( Not Academic).
This is what is required for immigration purpose.
Believe me anybody wey do @ least secondary school in Nigeria will definitely clear the thing, not to talk of person wey be Degree Holder.
