Hi there. Can anybody tell me if self-employment also enable you to enjoy the social safety network, e.g. employment insurance, old age security pensions, etc. Are there any differences in this regard between self-employment and other employment? Many thanks.

I think you have to voluntarily pay your monthly fees for EI and old age pension as a business owner in order to be able to collect it when you need it.
