Hi, every one. My wife and I submitted our working permit applications on 10th Oct. 2014. Today we received the medical exam requirements from the Consulate. And surprisingly My wife found she is pregnant (less than one month). I have acknowledged that the medical exam includes x-rays. And we are going to tell the doctor the pregnancy to avoid the x-ray test. Then here comes the question: the visa officer will know the pregnancy and will he/she refuse my wife's Open Work Permit application because of her pregnancy?

Background Information of our application:

1. I applied the work permit for my one-year postdoctoral researching at Quebec;
2. My wife applied the Open Work Permit to accompany me;
3. The pregnancy was unplanned, however we want to have this baby.

we are very worried that my wife would be refused for her OWP because of pregnancy. Can someone familiar with this situation help us? Thank you very much.

no don't worry, my wife was pregnant when i applied for her open work permit,
she did medical test but without xray, then doctor asked us to come again after delivery to make xray, but we got her work permit next month without waiting delivery date.

good luck.

Dear HossamHamed,

Thanks for your kindly reply! One further question: we plan to take the medical test but without the x-ray test. We asked the doctor and he said that they would forward the test report (with the x-ray test left blank) to the consulate, and they would state in test report that the x-ray test is not taken because of the applicant's pregnancy. Under this circumstances, do I need to send an email to the visa officer to explain the test report and that my wife's health insurance will be covered by my post-doctoral research scholarship when we arrive at Quebec?

Thank you very much. And it's sincerely expected that anyone familiar with my situation could share your experience with me.
