Can PR holder drive in Ontario using IDP or driving license of India

Hi All,

I will be soon landing in Toronto with my PR card (did short landing 6 months back). I plan to buy a car in first month. I am aware of lengthy process of getting Canadian driving license. My question is "Can I drive initially for few months (3 i believe) using an IDP or Indian driving license ?"
I believe insurance cost will be quite for my case.

Do you mean that I shall be able to drive jnitially only) if I have both, IDP (from India) and Indian driving license?
Or, do I still need the Canadian driving license to start driving in first place?
