Hello
Pretty much what the title stands for.
I was wondering if the 12 months of full time employement required to apply for that visa were appliable only with Full time employement or could be done on a casual job with full time hours ?

Not sure what you mean by a casual job. If you mean irregular or unpredictable hours then yes that should work. Bear in mind that you can only count a maximum of 30 hours per week towards a total of 1560 hours to qualify as 12 months (52weeks) which might mean you have to be employed for longer than 12 months. The job/jobs must be qualifying work as defined in the NOC codes (0, A or B NOC categories). Finally your employer/s will need to provide you with a letter/s on company letterhead confiming the job you did, the duties you performed, the period worked, the hours, and the pay rate. It would be advisable to retain all employment information like contracts (if available), payslips, Tax T4s & NOAs, employer ROE forms that you can use if needed in support of your CEC application. Good Luck

You could run into a problem if the job does not pay minimum wage or comply with tax reporting and/or statutory holiday conditions for the province you work in. i.e. it must be demonstrably a real job.

Well generally casual are real job, just not a permanent position.
Is there any way to know if the company answer those criterias beforehand ?(especially the tax reporting, as l can check by myself the other ones).

Do they deduct tax and EI from your pay prior to you being paid?

Hello

For IRCC, "full time" only refers to the # of hours worked. It is unfortunate that some employers use the term "full time" to mean what IRCC considers to be "permanent" employment.

As long as you meet the minimum requirement (one year of full-time work, defined as 30 or more hours worked per week, for 52 weeks - or the equivalent in part-time work), IRCC does not care whether it is temporary, "casual" or permanent.

However, as a casual worker, you might find it more challenging than others to document your work experience, esp. if the # of hours worked per week varies every week, or if you have mixed part-time and full-time hours... Having good records of the hours worked per week is important...

I am a casual Mental Health Worker employee, some weeks I worked 30 hrs and some other weeks I worked 20 hrs. Will these 20 hrs be counted or not when I’ll apply for CEC as they are less then 30. Thank you!
