My friend is applying in Canadian Experience Class. He is planning to go back home for three months. My question is:
"Can one leave Canada after applying for Canadian Experience Class?"
Please help. This is urgent.

Thank you

Yes

He has been told by the lawyer that he should not leave Canada unless he gets the COPR.

I understand that. What are the actual reasons for this? The lawyer must have reasons.

A CEC application does not require someone to be physically in Canada. There is no such rule.

One can even apply for CEC outside Canada (within a stipulated time). The only reason I could see is that if his PR gets approved while he is out, he may have to apply for PRTD, as he will not receive his PR card.

Thank you so much for the info. Will ask my friend and get further information.

I'm in this situation where I applied for CEC inland and now I'm outside Canada working remotely for 5 months. My CEC application is near completion. If it gets approved while I'm still away, should I apply for PRTD (even though I can't get CoPR if I'm outside Canada)? or inform IRCC that I'm currently outside Canada to put my application on hold and then ask for CoPR once I get back to Canada?
