Hi all,

I just found out about the forum, and I hope that some experts here can give me some advise. I am pretty stressed out already.

First of all, a little background of myself, I would say I'm in a weird situation here.

-My wife and I are both holders of Post-Graduate work permits. (Started somewhere in mid 2010)
-We both have the green health cards, we used our individual work permit for application of health card back then.
-We then got married in here in 2011.
-We have applied for Permanent Residence under the Canadian Experience Class; I am the primary applicant and my wife is the co-applicant. All we've got from the Government is the "acknowledgement of receipt"
-Recently, we've found out that my wife is pregnant, so she won't be getting a PR any time soon because she can't do the medical exam.

The problem I have right now is that my wife's health card is expiring in this May 2013, so as her work permit. Let's say she is unemployed, and she won't be employed in the near future due her work permit expiring soon. I believe she can't renew her health card by herself, because she doesn't have a work permit and she's unemployed?
In this case, can she apply for a new health card based on the status that she is my spouse, and I am a valid work permit holder? However, according to the OHIP eligibility fact sheet, she'll need to provide one of the following:

1.The eligible foreign worker's Canadian Immigration document identifying the accompanying family member(s); or
2.The individual family member's immigration document as issued by CIC; or
3.Family member's passport with an admission stamp cross-referenced to the foreign worker's work permit.

My wife does not have any of the above because 1) She came here as an international student and re-entered Canada using her work permit. 2) Even if her work permit expired, she can stay or re-enter Canada without any visa because of her Hong Kong BNO passport.

What should we do here? We really need to get her a health card... I have mortgage and stuff here... Any help is appreciated! Sorry for the long post :p

Thanks a lot!

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If you have a skilled job, she is eligible for an open work permit based on your work permit. She can at any time apply to change from one to the other. Actually, she should do it now if her permit is expiring in May.

You would need a letter from your employer with your job duties to prove that your job is skilled.
