Hello,

My mother is a canadian citizen with 3 children 28, 26 and 24 years old.
She has never lived in Canada but she intends to move. She got her citinezship 6 months ago.

My question is how she can sponsor her children to live in Canada with her???
thank you in advance!!

Does she have a husband / common law partner? Does she have other children in Canada?

She can't sponsor any of you unfortunately.

If you're interested in immigrating to Canada you will have to qualify independently (e.g. as skilled worker).

Also, just a small correction. She probably has Canadian permanent resident status - not citizenship. You must live several years in Canada before you can get citizenship.

However regardless of whether she is a PR or citizen - the answer is still the same. She can't sponsor you.

They are too old to be sponsored. If they qualified, they would have had to have been included in the mother's application when she applied for PR and would have obtained PR status along with her.

Again, she can't sponsor them.

Hi...May I know if I can sponsor my eldest son someday? He's 23 yrs old now, included in my application for PR with my youngest son too but he's not accompanying us to Canada due to he will be in college here in the Philippines. My husband will be applying to sponsor me as his spouse, we haven't submitted yet our application still waiting for the Option C..

Thanks a lot...God bless...

Your son must remain a full time student until he lands, land by the time given on the COPR (visa), and he must not marry or enter a common-law relationship.

If you get the visa before he's done with school, he can land and go back to school to finish. Just make sure he will return to meet residency requirements (2 out of 5 years).

If he finishes school or gets married/CL, he will no longer be a dependant and not eligible for immigration. It's very important he follow the guidelines and not lie if he gets married (for example) because it can put your PR at risk too.

Hi...Does it mean I should not include him as my dependant now because he's not in college as of now, he's presently working? I included him in the number of persons included in the application because he I will be sponsoring for him someday but he has not yet enrolled, maybe if not June it will be on the 2nd semester-Oct of this year...So we are (myself, my youngest son 14yrs old accompanying me and him ) because in the guide it says family members regardless of whether accompanying or not...

I'm confused, please help me about this...Of course I want to sponsor him someday so we could all stay there for good...

Thank you so much...

No. If you exclude him now, you will forever exclude him from the Family Class for sponsorship.

If he's working, he cannot be on your application as a dependant. There will be no way for you to personally sponsor him as a permanent resident. If he would like to study in Canada, you could help him by supporting his studies after you are settled or you can help him look for a job. He will have to qualify to immigrate on his own.

But yes, you must include him as an independant child.
