Will claiming it have any negative impact on study permit renewal, PGWP or PR?
On SP renewal it may, for PGWP no.
The only concern for SP renewal will be finances.
You can't depend on your Canadian job, before we enter Canada, we show we have enough money for tuition and living costs.
Now when you apply for SP extension, they may see a different story and can possibly reject your SP extension.
Hope that's clear.

That doesn't mean international student are ineligible for funds, it just makes your case on the refusal side, what happens if/when you run out of covid benefits?

Exactly what I was thinking. We clearly declare on our study permit that we are self sufficient. Claiming a federal aid literally contradicts that point.

Thank You! I needed that perspective.
