For some reasons, we can't proceed with the sponsorship application. I'm currently on study permit (dropout) and she's a naturalized citizen. Our relationship is genuine but we don't have any conventional evidence rather than proof of intimacy.

I've been thinking of getting an open work permit, working an NOC B job and applying for PR through Express Entry on my own. Is that possible? So far I couldn't find any information available. Any insight will be much appreciated.

How do you qualify for an open work permit?

Thus the question "is it possible?"

No it is not possible. If you can find an employer willing to pay and apply for an LMIA you can attempt to apply for a closed work permit. That is around a4-6 month process. Your school should report you for dropping out and you will be out of status. Assume you are not married or not common law.

Not possible.

Your spouse need to apply to sponsor your inland and the OWP can be submitted along with the inland application. In order to sponsor you, you must either be married or have lived together for at least a year to be common law (and have proof).

You cannot apply for the OWP separately.

If you're out of status, you should apply extend status to visitor. What is your background? Did you calculate your score in Express Entry or research PNP any province? There is work permit for exempt LMIA, but to get a job offer, it's not simple. You can do some research by your own.
