I applied for Canadian PR on Nov 2010 and got my file no: on Feb 2011. I didt get my medicals yet even after 1yr. I got an updation on 2nd of Dec 2011 that my application is on process. After that i didt get any updation. Its stated that it will take 8 to 12 months for processing visa. How long will i have to wait for my medicals? Can i withdraw my application and resubmit it again?

Why would you withdraw to start again? That would be quite costly since you would lose your application fee.

If you got an update 2.12.11 that is not very long ago for any country to expect an update as you noted it will take between 8 to 12 months for processing. That 8 to 12 months started 2.12.11. Withdrawing now will set you back a very long way if you are serious about proceeding.

What do you mean by not getting your medicals? Did you not have the medical done or do you think you get a notice about the result? If you had the medical done the only notice you would receive is from the decision maker saying they were not received/you passed or you failed. This is part of the processing procedure.

Sir, Thanks for your advice and response. Actually i got my file number on 25-02-2011. So my processing time of 8 to 12 months should start from that day onward s right? And i was supposed to get my letter to take my medicals should have been arrived within 3 to 4 months after i got my file no: But i didt received it and on 02-12-2011 i again got an updation.

This is what is shown on my online client application status

"We received your application for permanent residence on November 19, 2010.

We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on February 25, 2011. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

Your application was reviewed and we started processing on December 2, 2011".

So actually when will my processing time of 8 to 12 months starts? is it from feb 25,2011 or Dec 2, 2011?
What will be wrong with my application for such a delay?

So the client information screen indicates that a letter was sent to you 25 Feb 2011 - after you sent your application in Nov 2010.

The timeline for start of processing of the application and the average 8 to 12 months you gave would be 2 Dec 2011. The reasons for delay in starting processing could be multitude, but from the information you have provided it appears processing could begin 2 Dec 2011 because at that time the package was complete. So if all goes well and in accordance with the average you have noted above a final decision could be likely before the end of 2012. Pretty fast depending upon which form of application was made.

Well i was worried because one of my friend who applied on july 2011 got his PR visa. But he applied for a family visa. Will it affect the processing time? Anyway thanks for giving me hope to wait till the end of this year.
