how will enter Canada once you leave the country. BOWP is required to work legally in Canada. To enter / exit Canada, You need a visa.

Hi akhil5293,

You don't need a Canadian entry visa to apply for US visa. As long as you have a valid PGWP (assuring your legal status in Canada), you can apply for US visa from Canada. My personal experience is: I have a valid PGWP and expired Canadian entry visa (expired during Jan 2013) but I successfully applied for 1 year US entry visa during Nov 2013. The US visa officer didn't ask me many questions. I was only asked for my legal status in Canada, my job and my trip purpose to US. Interview was done in like 5 min.

As other members mentioned above, after you get your US entry visa, if you are travelling ONLY to US, you don't need a Canadian visa to come back. Your valid PGWP will do (personal experience as well).

Hope the above may help.

Good Morning All,

Need advise please.

I am currently on PGW and my company want me to travel US for some work purpose and I was wondering what is the procedure to travel/Visit United State ?

Do I need to apply for Visa ? if yes ,what is the cost ?

Thanks in advance

Having a US visa is a must.. even if u have expired canadian travel visa it is ok.. u can re-enter canada by personal car from US without travel visa but on valid work permit.. however u cannot come into canada on a plane or commercial bus without valid Canadian travel visa

Even though u don't have valid visa but u have valid work permit u can enter from US only.

T o apply for US visa you have to fill form DS-160 online . After you completed the form you need to book an interview appointment on the below link

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/niv

U just need ur passport DS 160 confirmation and interview appointment confirmation.

U may provide extra documents like job letter and your funds, but they don't ask for this.

Yep, having US visa, Canadian visa and Canadian WP are must, however I don't think plane and car made difference. Recently I had done both - business trips and coming back from US by plane and by car. By plane, lined up to clear canadian custom with expired visa and valid WP, got asked a few questions but in 5
mins it's done. By car, didn't even have to get out the car, basically no questions asked, and in 3 mins it's done.

+1
Just to add one point:
You do your interview appointment, the the US visa officer will take your passport for visa stamping by the end of interview. In 1 weeks after that you either retrieve it (with visa) from Loomis express or in your mail.

As long as you visit US by road, your valid work permit is sufficient for travel. You do not need to have a Canadian visa to come back to Canada from US.

I travelled to US without TRV by car and came back to Canada twice in the past.

If you are on restoration - you must remain in Canada.
