Hi,

There is no need for you to update CIC. In regard to your legal status, it is in good status in the US, simple reason, your visa stamp might have expired, however your legal status remains good with your New I-20 from your New University.

Dan
Yes, but CIC doesn't have my new I-20 to figure out if I am legally present or not. Infact, CIC never asks for any i-20s to see an applicant's legality. All they have is my passport pages which has an expired F-1 Visa. My fear is that what if they see the expired F-1 visa on the passport and assume that I am out of status, since my legal presence is based on new I-20 and not an F-1 visa anymore.

There is no need to worry in that regard. If they only ask for your legal document, which is your I-20, you can give it to them, but they wouldn’t ask.

Did you mention any work experience in the US if you had any?

My F1 Visa was expired too, I got a PPR.

Oh that's a relief! How long did it take you to get your PR? When did you get your PR approval?

Deep, Hi, don’t worry so much man. I hear you and can sense your worries.

my AOR was Feb 15th, I think, got my PPR July.

my only concern is it has taken about six months for your application to process.

Here are my thoughts. My colleagues, who are idiots by the way, applied during 2018, they received their PPR within 60 days! That’s right! This was due to the fact that applicants in the US were given priority and the Express Entry program was fairly few years old with fewer applicants.

It took almost five months for me and this was 2019 early. I was quite sure that it would take longer for applicants after me. We have more applicants now due to the attractiveness Canada has shown for Skilled Applicants under the Express Entry program.

If you have stated your three years of Work Experience in the US with supporting documents such as Reference letters with the NOC details, W2 Tax forms and Pay Slips, you should be good. If not, CIC will ask you to update anything they need. They have a robust process of background checks.

Yes, that is what the people at CIC tells me when I call them to check my status and get an update. High volume of applicants have made the process relatively slow.

Yes, I stated the work experience with detailed job description that matches my NOC code along with the business card of my employer, payslips. I haven't uploaded w2 form as it was not required. Does that make a big difference?

Thanks

Doesn’t make a difference, always helps support your application more. But don’t worry.

it took five months for me to get my PR approval.

That's great! I am already over 7 months, thinking about getting the GCMS notes one more time. But that won't make much difference. Is there a way to expedite this process?

Ordering another set after thirty days can maybe help. You should be fine.

my suggestion to you is to track other applicants, will send you a link where there is a case tracker, you can see the usual timeline of applicants from all over the World based on AOR till PPR. That can give you a better idea of when your application will be processed.

Feel free to ask any other questions Deep.

Goodluck man!

Yes, I'll order the new notes at the end of this month.

Oh yeah that will definitely give me a better idea about when to expect the PPR. I look forward to receiving the link of the case tracker.

Sure, thanks for answering my queries man! I really appreciate it. I'll keep you in the loop when I receive any update to get a second opinion.

This is the tracker, make sure you filter the details based on US applicants. It will give you a a better picture to see how long applications are being processed.
