Hello,

I took IELTS score in December 2016 and I scored total of 7.5.

If I take the test again and score lower (7.0 or 6.5 for example), can I still use my original score of 7.5 to apply for Express Entry or does CIC only take the most recent / newest score - which will mean that I will be forced to use a lower IELTS in my application.

I don't want to risk losing points in case I don't do as well if I take the test a second time.

You can use any score u like as long as its valid

It has to be valid though till you submit your e-APR

This is bit of a grey area. On one side, CIC mentions that test results are valid for 2 years.

On the other side, they say, "If your situation changes (for example, you get a new language test, have a baby, or start a new career), you must update your profile."

I have given multiple language tests, but only use the recent ones. It all depends, how you interpret the above sentence.

When I contacted IELTS, they said I can take the test as many times as I wish and use any TRF I wish as long as it is within 2 years of my test. IMO, you would would retake the test to improve your score. If your score was great at the start, why would you retake it. So that's the updated one with respect to the new language scores. Also, if you had taken a test in the past and it is now expired, you have to retake the test. The new test could be higher or lower than the old test and could amount to recalculation.

Is it required to update the latest IELTS score or I can go with old score as well because it's still valid till next year.
@maplewinn How did you went through this ?
