Hello Guys,

After I finished my studies and I got my post graduated work permit, I was hired as a co-op Junior System Administrator for 8 months, then my title changed to Junior system administrator for another 7 months with the same salary, responsibilities, hours etc. Everything was the same, basically the just removed the co-op word from the contract.

Applying under the CEC:

Can I included this CO-OP term as part of my Canadian work experience?

If it is valid should I use only one term of 15 months as a Junior System Administrator on my profile? (including an explanation letter afterwards)

or what is the best thing to do in this case?

Thank you so much for your help and time.

Was in that 8 months of co-op time you were on work permit status? I mean when you were working on that co-op thing was your status was student or work??

if it was worker then co-op counts towards your experience coz your status was worker and any type of wok performed at that time counts towards your experience in Canada. but if your status was student while you was working on co-op position then it will not count coz it will considered as a part of your study.

Thank you for you reply Gagan89.

Yes, I already had my post-graduation work permit when I got this CO-OP contract.

Sorry, I have a question: Can we use all the three years of post-grad work permit to get the required year of work experience? I mean, can we still apply for the BC Provincial Nominee Program/for PR three years after graduation (when the work permit expires) or only two years after graduation? Thanks

Your coop work (post study) in pgwp will count towards Canadian experience. Were you permanent employee or contract employee during coop (and even later when you became junior sys Admin)? If you are contract employee, then you would have to specify number of hours worked in 7 months (or 15 months). Support it with salary slip, reference letter and t4.

Thank you rajibsam,

It was a Co-op contract and then changed to Junior system administrator contract both were full time contract. I worked 37.5 hours a week.

I got the ITA already in the last draw. I guess I should go ahead with a good LOE

Do you know what is the worst thing that can happens? it gets rejected and I apply again without the co-op contract?

Their is no reason for rejection. Job title says coop, but actually its a full time job. Coop is the work which is part of study, but this work is post study. So its not a coop job, but an entry level contract job. You should be good. Just provide all the relevant documents to prove this is full time contract job. Also keep in mind, for contract job, you should complete 1560 hours and 52 weeks (both should be met).
