Your agent is lying unless you are in Canada and studying or on a PGWP. If not your wife is not eligible for an open work permit and she needs a LMIA with a closed work permit. Hope you haven’t paid any money.
Thanks @Naturgrl

So the agent pointed out that open permit eligibility includes temporary permit holder [such as tourist visa] so that can fly. Is this correct?

However because getting a work visa could be a lengthy process and resumption is in Feb, we are considering using a tourist visa to resume the job and then convert to a work visa to get a work permit.
Is this also possible?

What? You cannot convert an open work permit from being in Canada on a TRV. You need a LMIA from your employer with the job offer to apply for a closed work permit. This take many months and you cannot work until you have the closed work permit.

What is the job? You are being scammed. Again hope you haven’t paid your agent any money. Assume you have approved TRVs.

It is fake. The website is so fake. Google map it - small farmhouse. No farmer is paying out $22 per house with stipend. Don’t give personal information or money. The company name is posted here regularly for scams. Agent is a scammer and if licensed should be reported to IRCC.

For any legitimate job offer, you need an approved LMIA and then you apply for a closed work permit. You may have to show your experience in doing the job through work experience, ECA for education and language (IELTS/TEF).

Got a job offer from the same company for the same position with the same pay, accommodation and weekly stipend for food at $100. I already applied for my CAQ, received it and have applied for my visa.

Job offer received: October 23rd 2023
CAQ applied : October 24th 2023
CAQ received : November 24th 2023
Work permit application submitted : December 6th 2023
Biometrics : Already done for previous application
Currently waiting for medical request

I must state that upon further inquiries I was told the accommodation was shared, I would have a housemate but if I were arriving with family then it would only be ours, same as with the weekly stipend, if I was arriving with family it would have been $150.
I must also point out that on IRCC’s website it states employers are responsible for providing foreign workers with accommodation, transportation for their entire trip (from their home country to Canada and from Canada to their home country) amongst others.
