Hi :D ,

I'm protected person and I finished all the requirement for PR application and hopefully ::) I will hear soon form CIC regarding the landing interview and as I heard they will give me a confirmation of PR "correct me if I'm wrong" and I have called CIC call center and been told they will send me the PR card after the interview "I thought I have to fill an application for that".
Let say if I got the confirmation letter of permanent residence, CAN I travel and return back to Canada without PR card only the confirmation? Is the CBSA officer will let me in when I show him the confirmation?

My thanks in advance :) .

1. The COPR is not a travel document. The only travel document acceptable as proof of PR status when using commercial means is the PR Card.

2. Unless you have a private jet the only viable entry by non commercial means (PR Card not required) where you can present your COPR as proof of PR Status is via a US land border. As I recall the US Consulate bounced your B1/B2 it seems on sec 214 if you applied during your protected status. Land border route is only option as you are not visitor visa exempt to Canada. Unless you apply for another US visa but if your circumstances haven't changed then you will have the same problem.

I understand though not legally proven that many countries in the G8 don't like issuing visitors visa to asylum/ refugees from their partner countries to prevent asylum shopping....this will likely ease off when they can all share biometrics data to stop multiple claims by a single individual. I also think in your case that your home country conditions haven't changed significantly with ongoing civil unrest - this isn't helpful to your US visa application.

Another viable option is by sea - if you have a private boat!

An inflatable dinghy? :D
