Can I travel out of Canada with my expired PR card?

I have submitted my Renewal PR card application at the end of April , but I still did not get it yet . And I have to go travel to China on the 16th of August , 2018 ! Can I travel with my old PR card? Does the airline will let me board for leaving? Any other documents that I need to bring ?
I have been trying to contact IRCC for a few days already , but could not reach them ? What can I do now ? Thanks !

You don't need to show a PR card to leave Canada.

But you will need to show one to come back (or a PRTD). Otherwise they won't let you on the plane.
