I'm curious what type of advice you were given, as I find myself in a similar situation?

Are all courses of any length or time commitment prohibited? I.e., 4hrs/week for 12 weeks, taken as an "interest" course, even though it's being offered as part of a "certificate" (not diploma) when accompanied with many other courses (i.e., continuing education)? not part of any professional designation, etc.
