Can I stay in Quebec and work while waiting for PR acceptance?

Hello everyone,

I am currently living and working in Montreal, Quebec with 3-year Post-Graduation Work Permit valid until August/2016. I graduated with a DEC from a college in Quebec in 2013 and have been working for a company since then.

I have been submitted an application for PR since May/June 2015 through an lawyer office to Federal level after being refused by Quebec level because my French level was only A2. The lawyer said it may take up to 3 years to be accepted. I am going to apply to extend my work permit which (I am sure) only gives me another year (according to 4 year maximum rules).

So my question is, after my next work permit expires, am I still allowed to stay here and work while waiting for the PR?

Thank you very much.

You can't extend a PGWP.

If your application for a CSQ has been refused you:
a) Apply again (through the regular QSW program which is opening 4/11/2015 - French not required)

b) Need an LMIA & wp.

Hello Lammawitch,

Thank you for the information. Is QSW = Quebec Skilled Worker? Can you show me the link where I can find the information? I found one but not sure, I want to post here but I am not allowed to post link...

And about the LMIA and work permit, are you talking about the open work permit? If I the open work permit, will the current 3-year permit from PGWP be counted to the "4 year maximum rule"?

Thank you very much.

Yes.
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/fr/informations/regles-procedures.html, also see links to relevant documentation in my sig.

No, I don't mean an open work permit. From what you have posted, you aren't eligible for one. See:

& regarding the 4 year rule:

Thank you very much.
