Can i stay and search for new job if i quit old job?

Hi All,

My situation is this. My work permit and visa both expires on December 2012.
I am planning to quit my old job and apply for new Job.
My question is can i quit job and still stay in Canada till December and apply for new job and new work permit?

My question is can i quit job and still stay in Canada till December and apply for new job and new work permit? Yes. But if your work permit is tied to the employer, you can not work for any other employer. So your new employer has to apply for a LMO for you to get your work permit.

1. Should we go for lmo + work permit or,
2. Provincial nomination and then work permit after pre screening approval or,

What is fastest way to get new work permit.Check LMO processing times in Ontario. That may be what delays the process.
My new employer is big employer in Canada.
1. Should we go for lmo + work permit or, You may do that as well and explore the CEC stream or PNP programs.
2. Provincial nomination and then work permit after pre screening approval or, Discuss it with your employer and see what they say.

If My employer should be ready for both then which one you suggest?
Currently pnp screening in ontario taking long time more than 6 month.
Can a big employer get pnp screening done faster?
Otherwise I have to take work permit path

I'm only familiar with the CEC stream, don't know much about the PNP programs and the part employers play. To apply as a foreign worker under the CEC stream, you need 24 months of full-time work experience(at least 37.5 hrs/week) or the equivalent in part-time work(3900 hours). There is talk of reducing it to 1 yr but no one knows when the rule will change.
