Hello guys,

I just received PR, now waiting for my passport back from Seattle VO. I have a question can I start working while waiting for PR card, as I know it takes about 2 months to get it. I know that I would need to change my social insurance number. Can I do all these without having PR card?

any input would be much appreciated!

PR Card is only required if you need to travel outside canada. You can work and also, apply for SIN using COPR and your passport with IMMIGRATION Visa.

Your post is a bit confusing...you say you are waiting for your passpart which means you are yet to "land" and therefore not a permanent resident yet. If this is the case, you have to continue following the rules/conditions of your current work permit until you "land".

If you have landed(or when you land), you can start working anywhere while you wait for the PR card.

thank you for all replies! sorry for being confusing...i am waiting for my passport with PR visa, once i receive that I am going to land...but I want to change myy job as soon as I do landing and I was wondering if I actually do that while my PR card in in process.

Yes, you can change jobs as soon as you land. You do not have to wait for the PR card - give the employer a copy of your 'confirmation of permanent residence'(will be sent with your passport).

Super thanks to you for that post.

I was worried since my Wife is in Canada on a CWP/TRV. She has a SIN starting with 9....

She has sent her (Indian) Passport to CPC - Ottawa to get her PR Visa Stamped. The issue is she has a new Job Offer which she can join till 26th October. Assuming she gets the COPR along with the Stamped Passport before that she should be still be fine to join her new Job with the COPR + existing SIN which she waits to get "Landed" Status. Correct?

Hi! Im just confusing if i am eligible to looking other employer or to change employer, while im waiting for pr card, just only copr I have right now?do you think Im facing any problem in my current employer? Thanks

If you already have signed ECOPR , you are already PR and can work for any employer and can live anywhere. No issues at all.
