I am working outside my country of citizenship at the moment. I plan to go back to my country and apply for the student permit via SDS (Student Direct Stream) from there. However, most of my savings are in my bank here in the country I work.

When I try to apply for Simplii Financial's GIC from here, the form indicates that I need to mention where 'I live now', however, the field names mention that I need to fill them in 'as per passport'. I'm living in a different country, and the citizenship on my passport is different.
To understand the problem, open this link: https://pay.cibc.com/ISBO-SM/payment/#/
Scroll down to the "Student Contact Details" section. If you hover over the information button next to 'Street Number', it will say "The following questions are asking you where you live now." However, the names of the fields are like "Permanent Country of Residence as per Passport"

A similar problem exists with CIBC's GIC form (I know Simplii is a division of CIBC, though they have a different user interface for GIC application). CIBC requires you to select your country of residence and currency before you can access the form, and then later doesn't allow you to change this within the form, where it asks what your nationality is.

It's making me feel like I can only purchase the GIC from within my country (from where I intend to apply for the SDS from). Could anyone please clear this out for me? And in case you were in a similar situation, how did you handle it? I really don't want to send the money back to my home country first and then send it to Canada, because it will be a hectic procedure and I will also incur extra costs.

Hello, I am having the same issue. How did you fill your application. Thank you.
