Hi,

I am employed as a live-in caregiver. I came to Canada in November 2011, but my work permit and visa are only valid until the end of February 2013 because that was the expiry of my Philippines passport.
I have applied for an extension of my work permit, but my question is can I apply for a new visa before I get the work permit extension or do I have to wait?

Thank you.

Sorry you have to wait until u get the new permit before you can renew your visa. I am also waiting for my permit to be renew, so i can look about my visa. Hope i answer your question.

:)Hello!

My TRV is expiring on Feb 2013, My WP expires on June 2013. I applied for renewal of TRV because I thought I can go for a vacation back home on April.
After 3 weeks, I got my TRV renewed until same date of my WP expiration.
There is a notice too that: The validity of your VISA can also be restricted by your status in Canada. You cant obtain VISA beyond the validity of your current work permit.

So its really better to get one after your WP got extended.

Thank you for that info. I was originally thinking of applying for the TRV while waiting for the WP and including a covering letter to say that I was applying for a WP extension. It sounds like it's better not to risk it.
