Can I renew my passport while the application is pending?

Hi there,
My husband has applied to a study permit, and I've applied to an OPW along with him.
My passport is expiring in february, and with the current waiting times as soon as we get our permits, I will only have a couple of months left on my passport (hence left on my permit, since I understand that permits are issued for the duration of the passport. please correct me if I'm wrong).

App was submitted online in June, biometrics done July 1st, so we are now waiting. Can I renew my passport now? Will it mess with my application/ entrance?

Mostly passports can be renewed 1 year earlier from date of expiry. So you should have renewed it before submission.
Have you submitted passport in the embassy when applying for OPW?
You should apply for new one and take along with old passport having visa as you may find difficulty in immigration with passport having less than 6 months validity remaining.

in my country they can be renewed 6 months before, I think you need a very, very, especial "official" reason to renew them 1 year before expiration... when we started the process it was way before 6 months
No, we have not submitted a physical copy of the passport, we have applied online so we have submitted a digital copy of the relevant pages along with the application.

What I'm worried about is that if they give me a permit linked to a specific passport and then I use a different one (renewed one) to enter, I'll have problems.
