Can I refer CIC to check my scanned passport for travel dates to a country?

Hi All,

CIC rejected my application as incomplete:

my spouse lived in a country between 24 Nov of a year and 30 Sept of the next but made a mistake (according to CIC letter) in filling the personal history form by typing 01 Nov and 01 Sept.

They stated dates in police certificate do not cover the date.

All these dates are in my scanned passport.

CIC has advised that my application has been closed and that money will be refunded.

Pls anyone with similar experience? Wondering if I can call CIC or send a CSE to apologize and argue that the dates are also in my scanned signed and stamped pages in my passport.

Also I'm not super sure if the office that treated my case actually used the correct police certificate which I submitted few weeks ago. The original one I submitted with my application in August obviously has a wrong date of entry....

Will appreciate any info

Hi,

sorry about that.

I would not argue and just start again after correcting the mistake.

Hi

No, you can't argue that the dates are in your passport. The form needs to be filled out correctly.

Ok. Thanks all for those useful pieces of information. I called CIC today and the gentle man I talked with said it really depends on the officer - some may reopen my case and some may have their eyes closed.

I'm writing a letter to apologize for the mistake and humbly refer VO to the exact pages showing entry and exit on his passport.

I know reentering the pool seems to be the safest option but just kind of scared thinking about when score will be as low as 413

Hi there,

I had a similar case and lodged case and got it reopened.

In my case I was my address history had country A from 01/01/2009 to 31/01/2009 and country B from 01/02/2009 to 17/01/2009.

I had done that as I considered this my mailing address but I actually left country A on 28/01/2009 and stayed temporarily in a hotel until I sorted my proper address for Country B by the 01/02/2009. This was reflected in my old passport with immigration date stamps (embarking etc) and my police certificate for country A had the actual dates of leaving the country.
So I got a letter saying my application was incomplete . I lodged a case specific enquiry explaining the above, attached my old passport showing my immigration date stamps showing I had left the country and my police certificate reflected this correctly and apologize d for any confusion . It took 2 months but they reopened the case . In the mean time I had created another profile and got another invitation while waiting to hear back . But they reopened and I just close the other profile ... So it is possible if you explain things clearly and you have evidence to back it up ... Hope this helps!
