Hi All,

I am just wondering if i could prepare my police certificate and medical exam now. I haven't got invited by EE yet. I have got OINP nomination letter and accepted it. I am still waiting for my 600 points to be added, not sure how long it is going to take. My work permit is going to expire in Jul 9 2016. I am trying my best to gather all documents needed for EE to make sure to submit my application right away after getting invited, and then I could use the File number to extend my work permit.

1. I came from different country other than Canada, can I get my police certificate there now? When will it expire? Should I keep it at least valid for 6 months when I submit my e-APR? Do i need the original documents when I submit my e-APR, or the photocopy sent by my parents will be fine?
2. Should I get a police certificate from Canada as well when I submit my e-APR? I came to Canada in 2011, went back to my country for 2 weeks vacation in 2014.
3. Can i do my medical exam now? When will it expire?
4. Anything else is going to take a long time to prepare? Should i prepare them in advance?

Thank you very much!

As such, you are good to go ahead and apply for PCCs and book an appointment for Medicals

1. I came from different country other than Canada, can I get my police certificate there now? When will it expire? Should I keep it at least valid for 6 months when I submit my e-APR? Do i need the original documents when I submit my e-APR, or the photocopy sent by my parents will be fine? When you say "get from there now" do you mean you will visit that country? You can apply for PCC for any country as you are in Canada. The guidelines to receive PCC from different countries in on CIC website. Remember, the countries you previously lived for 6 or more months, the PCC should be issued AFTER you have last visited that country
2. Should I get a police certificate from Canada as well when I submit my e-APR? I came to Canada in 2011, went back to my country for 2 weeks vacation in 2014. No, PCC for Canada is not required upfront. However, if you are not in Canada right now, then I suggest to apply for it as well.. Just in case if the officer request for it at a later stage. Also keep in mind, if you are in Canada right now then dont get it done, as even if the officer will request it later. You apply for it then, as it takes only 1 week to get RCMP certificate (if within Canada)
3. Can i do my medical exam now? When will it expire? - As mentioned above, you can go ahead with Medical., However, at few medical center the physician may ask for the Invitation letter prior to performing the medicals. So just call the medical center and book an appointment, They will mention the documents required, if they dont say anything about the Invitation letter, then you are good to go.

The medical is valid for 1 year

4. Anything else is going to take a long time to prepare? Should i prepare them in advance?Have you claimed any points for foreign education? If yes, you need to get ECA from WES for the corresponding degree

Thank you very much!

If this response has helped you. A +1 is always appreciated :)

Yes, you can obtain the PCC from your home country now. It will be valid until the next time you go back to your country.
Scan copy of original PCC is required for e-APR.

2. Should I get a police certificate from Canada as well when I submit my e-APR? I came to Canada in 2011, went back to my country for 2 weeks vacation in 2014.
You do not need Canada PCC while submitting e-APR. Only if IRCC requests it after you submit your application, only then you need to get PCC from Canada.

3. Can i do my medical exam now? When will it expire?
It is recommended to get your medical done after your ITA date. It is valid for 1 year only.

4. Anything else is going to take a long time to prepare? Should i prepare them in advance?
If you have not obtained Reference Letters from your previous employers, then you need to obtain them now.
All the best.

Thank you very much!

Thank you very much! I am not planning to go back to my home country before getting PR, so I should be safe to get the police certificate now.

1. For WES ECA report you mentioned, I have the original ECA document issued by WES, is this enough? Or should I also authorize WES to share the results of my ECA report with CIC? so CIC can check it on website by itself. That was requested by OINP.

2. Lots of ppl mentioned they are requested to submit schedule 4/4A after submitting e-APR, can i submit it with my e-APR in part of Letter of Explanation?

Thank you!

Thank you! I understand the PR process may take up to 6 mths. Basically my medical exam result should be valid at least 6 mths from the time I submit my e-APR. Hopefully, I should be able to get invited in one or two months. As you said, it is valid for a year, it should be safe to do it now. :)

I got all my previous employer reference letter when I resigned, they are all dated the date I left the company. I am going to request the most recent one from my current employer, is that ok?

For your current employment, you can get the reference letter now and you can even attach the employment contract or offer letter.

I would like to highlight one point about medicals which I wish I had known when I went for my medicals. If you currently live outside Canada and get your passport stamped after you receive your PPR, the expiry date on the visa will be the date your medicals expire. So, if you have taken your medicals very early (before ITA) then you will end up in a situation where you receive a PPR and have just about a month or so to go before your stamped visa expires. You will have to enter Canada within that time in a hurry and apply for the PR card.
