Can I open a Etsy or Shopify online store on study permit?

Is it legal for international students to open an online store to sell things in Canada? And if so, how do I file my taxes?

not under the study permit , you could under a PGWP or a co-op work permit , in short you will need a proper work permit, I don't know if students do it regardless but it is not advisable without the necessary permits as it could violate the terms of your study permit and impact your immigration status.

If you have a student visa or a study permit, then the answer is definitely no.

It would be legal but will be complicated. You’ll need clear records of your work hours and register for things like GST. You won’t be able to count self-employed hours as Canadian experience.
