Can I move to Canada with my NSNP PNP on permanent residence arranged by my employer without a job

So my situation is that my current employer has an office in Halifax and there were job openings and I applied and got a W-1 work permit last year on that. Later the job was not available we did not move to Canada. They have also applied for the PR visa and I have just received our PR visas and CoPR documents. The company applied using AIP NSNP PNP. My question is can we move to Canada with our PR visas and CoPR documents? Can the company do anything to make us not go on our own as they still do not have a job opening ?

Sorry, just curious, your employer applied for your permanent resdency? And they don't have a job for you in Canada?

yes correct. they had a job offer last year on which they applied for my W-1 work visa, which I got, and they also applied for the PR. They never moved us saying the job is a bit postponed (for more than a year). And now I received our PR visa with CoPR.

So your employer acted as your representative in the PR application?

Just to clarify further, your employer applied for an ICT last year to transfer you to their Halifax office and this job position was later cancelled?

On what basis then did your employer applied for your PR?

I think the job position is not yet cancelled (not sure about that), but they are delaying things. I got my work permit last year April 2022 and as soon as we got these, the company applied for our PRs, which just came.

I have asked company to let us move now on PR visas but they are still hesitant and saying that our PR was based on the employment offer and upon arrival the immigration officer will check if I have the employment available or not.

It all depends on certain number of factors. If your job was tied to your employer and your employer had play main role in getting nomination you still need that job to land because they gave you job letter to apply for PR . If you weren’t tied for employer you can easily land in Canada and wait for your current job to start. However CBSA officer will never ask you anything about your job or job letter when you do landing at airport. Make sure you land at same city and province .

Yes my job was tied to my employer, and he played the main role in getting nomination for me, but what if I land in Canada , apply for PR card, get my PR card, stay there and find another job (if my employer does not start the job offer on which I get my PR)?

Yes you can do that . Technically it’s not your fault if they can’t start job early.

I have some further details I found about my status. So I looked into the documents my company law firm submitted at the PR portal. I found the Nova Scotia Confirmation of Nomination document. This has the "restriction on employment" as "Yes, restricted to employer and occupation". My assumption is that this was for the work permit I received last year (this could mean the permit was closed, that is bound to the employer!).

I am trying to confirm and figure out that, later when company applied for our PR and we got our PR visas, we could land in Canada, NS and claim our PR card? I can see from the thread above that CBSA officer will not ask us for any job related questions and we would only need to provide him our PR visas and CoPR documents? After looking into various forums I believe our obligation would be to stay in Nova Scotia and bring the funds we declared in the PR application with us. My wife can look for a job but I can wait and see if my employer get me to work on the job.

Yea you have to land in same province. After you land as PR , you are free to do any job .
